About Us

We believe everyone has the power to own their story, shape their future, and uplift their community

Soulevement is a non-profit Community-Based Organization that empowers young individuals to achieve comprehensive mental wellness through psychological and physical development, education, and skills training.

We connect individuals with professional counselors who provide expert support in overcoming social, emotional, and mental challenges, promoting self-awareness and self-actualization.

We foster a safe and supportive environment that encourages individuals to openly share and discuss their experiences, effectively addressing their social, emotional, and mental health issues.

Mission

To connect, educate, and empower young people, especially the marginalized, by providing a platform to foster mental wellness and create positive change.

Vision

A society where young people openly discuss mental health, build resilience, and actively create inclusive, stigma-free communities with the support needed to enhance their well-being.

Every Journey is Important

At Soulevement, we believe every voice deserves to be heard. Through our initiatives, we create safe spaces where individuals can openly share their mental health experiences, fostering connection and understanding.
By amplifying these personal journeys, we nurture empathy, break stigma, and remind each person that they are not alone.

Together, we build a resilient community that supports healing and empowerment.

Mental Health Challenges Among Kenyan Youth

  • Prevalence of Mental Health Issues: Mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression are increasingly common among Kenyan youth. However, comprehensive national statistics are limited, highlighting the need for more extensive research and data collection.
  • Impact of Traditional Beliefs: In some Kenyan communities, disabilities, including mental health conditions, are often attributed to curses or witchcraft. These beliefs can lead to stigma and discrimination, discouraging affected individuals from seeking help.
  • Legal Reforms: In January 2025, a Kenyan high court ruled that criminalizing attempted suicide is unconstitutional. This landmark decision aims to reduce stigma and encourage open discussions about mental health, promoting support over punishment for those experiencing suicidal thoughts.
